What this Rashi calculator finds
Your Janma Rashi is the sign occupied by the Moon at birth. This calculator uses the same Swiss Ephemeris calculations as our Kundli tool, with Lahiri selected by default. It returns the Moon sign directly, alongside the Sun sign and ascendant so you can distinguish them.
Why date, time and place matter
The Moon changes signs roughly every two to three days. A birthday alone can leave two possibilities when the Moon crosses a sign boundary. The birthplace determines how the recorded local time converts to the birth instant. Enter an accurate time rather than accepting an arbitrary noon result.
Birth Rashi versus name Rashi
A traditional name syllable can suggest a naming Rashi, but a modern name does not establish where the Moon was at birth. Use the birth calculation when the details are known. The name-based tool is a separate lookup with different assumptions.
